DON’T WHIMPER FOR AFGHANISTAN

Things are not worse than before.

Whoever is in charge now, whether you like it or not, it does not dependent on any foreign power; it is not promising more war, it is not promising revenge or threatening anyone either.

On the other side, the international community is talking the same language; that is peace and cooperation. The last 40 years this community was doing the opposite thing, it was threatening, destroying, bombing and expanding violence and instability to neighboring countries and east Asia.

Now the new government is assuring that it wont allow Afghan soil to be used against any other country. It means regional peace.

The new government has also announced that it will put an end to the production of drugs. These guys have the merit of having done it before. Since Europe and neighboring countries in Asia have been suffering from the damage of drug trafficking, it is a good thing also.

All this means, that big war, regional wars, radical actions and drugs may coming to an end. These guys have the merit of having brought the occupation war to an end. Of all problems, that was the biggest.

Of course they may not keep their promises. Last decades we've seen a lot of broken promises. I was more violence and lies instead. But now things are different. The actors are other, there is other people in the government, there is other countries in the so called “international community”. Now, this community is led by regional countries, by those who where suffering many of the consequences of what was happening in Afghanistan; and the one who was funneling violence and instability in the region is no longer the one who takes decisions. That is a big change.

Now let’s put this issue in context. In recent years we have been getting closer and closer to a catastrophic WWIII. Asia is the more dangerous focus for the surge of this conflict, and Afghanistan for centuries, has had a great geopolitical importance for imperial powers to control the region and wage war. That is why they have been trying to establish themselves there, that is what was happening lately. This shows what important is this region for the hole world. That is why this is the best glimpse of peace we caught in the last four decades. If it succeeded, who would lose with it?
